Every fundraiser on LaunchGood starts with someone trying to make a difference. A student raising for her local masjid. A father/mother rebuilding after loss. A neighbour who saw a need, etc.
One of the hardest parts is usually getting the story in front of people.
That’s why we’re launching First Drops, a content challenge that rewards fundraisers for telling their story on video, and turns your community’s support into boost for your fundraiser.
What is First Drops?
First Drops is a challenge that runs every two weeks. Each cycle, we select 3 fundraisers. Each one creates a short video about their campaign, and publishes it together with LaunchGood on Instagram as a collab post.
How your campaign earns boost
Your video earns a boost to your campaign based on how people engage with it from the moment it goes live on Friday until the end of Sunday (Eastern Time):
- $50 for every reshare
- $10 for every comment (real comments, 3 or more words)
- Capped at $1,000 per fundraising video
Every dollar goes directly to your campaign.
Boosts come from the Giving Pool, the same community fund behind our leaderboard prizes and match fund offers, doing what it has always done: Amplifying generosity.
A reshare might not feel like much. But it puts your cause in front of a whole new circle of people. That’s how small drops gather into something bigger.
What makes a good video?
You don’t need equipment, editing skills, or a script. You need your story and your phone.
- Vertical format, 30 to 60 seconds
- The strongest videos usually cover four things: who you are, why this cause matters to you, the problem you’re addressing, and the people your fundraiser helps.
- Mention your beneficiaries specifically. Faces and names move people more than statistics
- Tell it your way. Your voice and your community are exactly why we should pick you.
We’ll provide an end-card to close your video, and we’ll help you set up your campaign link once you’re selected.
Who is this for?
This pilot is designed for individual campaign creators: People running personal fundraisers or grassroots community initiatives. It applies to fundraisers where you have direct access to and engagement with the beneficiaries, rather than campaigns where you are raising funds on behalf of a larger organization that manages service delivery.
Creative projects developing a new product for the Muslim market, or creating a new movie or game, are also included in this.
How to take part
- Tell us you’re interested. Send us your video idea in 2 or 3 sentences
- Selection. We pick 3 fundraisers per cycle and inform you.
- Create and post. Your video goes live on Friday as a collab post with @LaunchGood
- Get boosted. Engagement is counted until the end of Sunday, reviewed for authenticity, and boosts are paid to your campaign the following week.
Not selected this cycle? Pitch again. Strong ideas get remembered, and a new cycle starts every two weeks.
A note on fairness
We review all engagement before paying boosts. Rallying your real community, your family group chat, your masjid, your friends, is exactly the point. Purchased or fake engagement disqualifies a video. We keep it simple and honest, because these funds are an amanah from our donors.
Your story deserves to be seen
Some of the most powerful campaigns on LaunchGood came from one person, one phone, and a story told honestly.
If that sounds like you, we want to hear it.
Interested? Email yusuf@launchgood.com with your video idea in 2 or 3 sentences, or simply say you’d like to take part, and we’ll be in touch with everything you need.
First Drops is part of the Giving Ecosystem, LaunchGood’s community of givers and fundraisers uplifting the Ummah together.
