Maulana Faruk & his students raising 10x this past Ramadan

In general, Ramadan 1444 fundraising was down 17% on average (see here).

But for Maulana Faruk and his charity school project, he had his best Ramadan ever - by far!

Normally he sets up charity buckets around his masjid and directly approaches the public, raising modest amounts.

This Ramadan? He raised over £27,000!

And he did it because his students are part of the fundraising, with 91 micro-fundraisers all coming together to make a macro-sized impact!

Peer-to-peer fundraisers: Easier, funner & WAY more effective

Fundraising can feel like climbing Mount Everest with a backpack full of bricks - but fear not, my friends!

Peer-to-peer fundraising can make it easier, funner & way more effective.

It's like a big group hug from supporters who are passionate about your cause and want to help you reach your goals.

In this article, we'll give you the inside scoop on how to crush your fundraising targets and make it look easy-peasy. Let's go! 🧗

What is Peer-to-peer fundraising?

Very simply, peer-to-peer fundraising is having your volunteers run micro-fundraisers on your behalf.

You'll need a few critical elements:

  1. Army of volunteers
  2. Clear & simple ask
  3. Consistent engagement
  4. Gamify!

Army of Volunteers

It all comes down to numbers - essentially, the more fundraisers you have, the more money you can expect to raise. Set each of them up with their own campaign page and make it unique to them, include their name in the title and in the short link.

Be sure to get started early, like they say: the early bird catches the worm.

Have a clear and simple ask

Having a clear and concise request is crucial for micro-fundraisers. Since these fundraisers depend on a large number of people supporting the same cause, your message should be easily understandable by everyone. Make it clear what you are trying to accomplish and how others can contribute.

For instance, this class of British students were raising money for the students of Turkey. They had a straightforward message that left no room for ambiguity. Using attractive pictures and easy-to-understand language can help a lot in getting your message across to potential donors.

Keep engaged with your fundraisers

When it comes to grassroots fundraising, your job as a charity or organisation is to sit back, relax, and let your army of fundraisers do the heavy lifting. Your role is to be the coach, the cheerleader, and the occasional therapist for your volunteers. Share the wealth of knowledge and experience from your star fundraisers to inspire others and don't forget to give a little pep talk to those who are lagging behind. With your guidance, your volunteers will not only crush this fundraiser but will be ready to tackle future ones like fundraising superheroes! 💪🌟👍

Gamify!

To enhance participation and activity among your micro-fundraising volunteers, consider incorporating gamification into your initiative. LaunchGood can incorporate leaderboards onto your pages so you can offer incentives and prizes for the person/team who raise the most, and another for the highest number of donors!

Once you've added prizes to the leaderboard, sit back and enjoy as your micro-fundraising volunteers engage in an epic battle for the top spot. Popcorn not included! 🍿
