This Ramadan, I’m especially excited to announce our first-ever partnership with the Pillars prayer app.
On paper, this is a no-brainer: two grassroots Muslim startups; two mission-driven platforms; two teams obsessed with excellence and service.
But for me, this is also personal.
Pillars: the best prayer & habit tracking app for Muslims
First off, let’s cover the basics - Pillars is a prayer app that tells you when it’s time to pray.
Simple.
But it’s much more than that:
- Ad Free & Data Protected: Unlike other spammy prayer apps, Pillars doesn’t have pop-up ads, and definitely doesn’t sell your data (something that unfortunately the largest prayer apps got caught doing, data that ended up with the U.S. military!)
- Elegant Prayer Tracking Made Simple: Pillars helps you keep track of your daily salah with an intuitive interface that feels modern without losing spiritual focus.
- Healthy Habits Built Around Worship: The app encourages consistency not just in prayer but in other practices that strengthen your connection to Allah, like tracking fasts, duas for Ramadan, and even Ramadan Giving with LaunchGood!
Dr. Abdul-Rahman Abbas: A founder I’ve been admiring for years
I’ve been following the journey of Pillars from the start, because something unique the founder, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Abbas, did: he built in public.
Abdul-Rahman started Pillars because he was tired of seeing prayer apps bloated with ads, and the final straw was when some top prayer apps got exposed for selling their customers’ data that eventually landed with the U.S. military!
Obviously it was meant at first as a passion project, but because (I believe) of the sincerity Abdul-Rahman built with, the app has grown and grown until he could leave medicine and dedicate himself full-time to this app.
The result?
An ad-free prayer app that authentically represents our community and keeps getting better by the week.
Our Ramadan Partnership: LaunchGood x Pillars
This Ramadan LaunchGood is proud to have partnered with Pillars to be featured in their app to their millions of users worldwide.
We believe these win-win partnerships are a model for the Islamic economy as it grows - find brands that reflect your values and share an audience but serves them in different ways.
We also are supporting campaigns on LaunchGood to sustain Pillars as well as their new initiative, the Jibreel app.
Jibreel App: Duolingo for Islam
Speaking of Jibreel App, that’s another really impressive app Abdul-Rahman and his team launched recently. Inspired by how Duolingo made learning Spanish fun and habitual for Abdul-Rahman, he thought “why can’t we help your everyday and new Muslims learn Islam in a fun and engaging way?”
The result is the incredible Jibreel App, already with thousands of users. And as part of this partnership, Abdul-Rahman is offering LaunchGood users a special 20% lifetime discount https://jibreel.app.link/LaunchGood (use code LAUNCHGOOD20)
A bright future for Islamic Economy
More than anything, I’m excited because this feels like a glimpse of the future.
A future where:
- Muslim founders collaborate instead of compete
- Our apps and platforms strengthen each other
- The Islamic economy grows with integrity
- We build with ihsan — excellence — as an act of worship
I’m proud of what Abdul-Rahman has built, and grateful for his example.
This Ramadan, may our prayers be stronger.
May our giving be more impactful.
And may our startups be worthy of the ummah we serve
